Iconic secondhand retailer expands in Western Sydney
Located in the heart of Auburn’s bustling retail hub on Parramatta Road, the new thrift superstore will continue Savers’ legacy as a leading secondhand destination, surrounded by major retailers, shopping centres and homemaker precincts that attract tens of thousands of visitors daily. With easy access across Western Sydney via major highways, the store is set to become a must-visit destination for thrift lovers.
The Auburn store will be a treasure trove for secondhand shoppers with thousands of new items arriving daily across clothing, accessories, home goods, and more. Committed to making secondhand affordable and accessible, the majority of items will be priced under $10 (as averaged across all categories).
Michael Fisher, Managing Director at Savers Australia, said the brand’s continued success in Sydney reflects the growing demand for sustainable shopping.
“We’ve seen an incredible response to our Hoxton Park and Oxford Street stores, and Auburn is the perfect next step in our expansion,” Mr Fisher said.
“The store will offer a one-of-a-kind thrift shopping experience, giving Western Sydney shoppers access to quality secondhand goods at affordable prices – all while making a positive impact on the planet.”
As part of Savers’ proven commitment to sustainability, the new store will contribute to the millions of kilograms of textile waste diverted from landfill last year by the brand’s existing Australian stores. Secondhand shopping also conserves water, reduces pollution, and minimises energy consumption, making it a simple yet impactful way for consumers to be part of the sustainable solution.
The store’s opening also expands Savers’ not-for-profit partnerships, with the Diabetes Innovation and Impact Foundation (DIIF) joining the retailer’s growing network, including Red Nose Australia, Diabetes Victoria and Wounds Australia.
DIIF is a new national foundation dedicated to improving the lives of Australians affected by diabetes by advancing research to prevent or find a cure for all types of diabetes.
Savers accepts donations on behalf of not-for-profit partners helping them fund programs in the local community, reinforcing its dedication to making a positive impact in the communities it serves.
Glen Noonan, Chief Executive Officer at DIIF, said the new partnership will help drive meaningful change in diabetes care and prevention.
"Innovation and collaboration are key to tackling the growing challenges of diabetes, and this partnership not only helps us raise essential funds to advance research and prevention but also creates a sustainable model for long-term impact. Together, we’re driving change that will improve lives today and transform diabetes care for the future."
To encourage early donations, the Auburn Community Donation Centre™ will open on Saturday 12 April, ahead of the store launch Thursday 15 May, providing a convenient way for locals to give quality pre-loved clothing and household items a second life before the grand opening.
“The earlier opening of the Auburn Community Donation Centre™ gives locals a simple way to declutter responsibly while making a meaningful impact, helping extend the life of quality goods and supporting vital community programs.” Mr Fisher said.
